Miranda Class Light Cruiser

on Sat Jul 20, 2013 12:28 am
~ Entry Start ~

Now reintroducing the Miranda Class Starship in the 1 stud to 10 meters Perfect Grade.  And JSYK, this means that the Perfect Grade Texas Class will be returning to the stars once again.

The Miranda class starship is a medium cruiser primarily used for escort and scout missions.  It's initial launch was somewhere around AD 2280 and since then it has proved itself to be a valuable addition to the fleet.  In the past few years, Starfleet has decommissioned most of it's Miranda class starships and they have been sold to either the Phoenix Command Group or other private contractors, keeping only a few in their fleet.  The PCG has used these quite extensively, primarily as escorts and starbase defense.

The PCG Mirandas have received quite an upgrade to their weapons systems.  The two Roll Bar construct mounted phasers have been replaced by the powerful Shock Cannons and the forward and aft mounted photon torpedo launchers mounted on the roll bar have been replaced by dual barreled auto-loading Quantum Torpedos.

The hull has been outlined with smaller  Pulse Cannons to allow for AA defense, and the Type-7 Phaser banks around the hull have been replaced by Theta Type Quantam Phasers.

The hanger section has been hollowed out further into the primary hull to allow for more ships space.  It's light craft contingent is listed below.

The Warp nacelles have been replaced by Gamma type warp nacelles allowing the Miranda class to stay at a speed of Warp 8.5 indefinitely with a maximum speed of Warp 9.9 for 48 hours.

The dual deflector dishes have been replaced by two Gamma type deflectors on the top and the bottom of the engineering hull/hanger bay.

Beautiful ship, J-red! Love the SNOT design and how smooth things are. Do you have more pics to upload?

So I assume perfect grade means our official scale of 1 stud = 10 meters? Wink

This is beautiful. And it makes my Miranda look so drab in comparison.

I personally would want to customize it, but I guess if you're really into making it as close to the movie model, go ahead! I can't really commnt enthusasitcally on it though.....But it's not a bad little ship, though I see room for improvement, even if that meant customizing it as I mentioned earlier.

Oh trust me, I plan to custom it. I'm going to make a Miranda Mk. II (Star Trek Online) and Mk III. (Johnnyred custom)

Not bad at all! I'm sure it would be more impressive to me if I had an idea of what normal ST ships were like-- by SW standards this would be a corvette, and when I hear "medium cruiser" I think of something more like the 500-meter Broadside Cruiser. But she's a beauty nonetheless, good job!

^^^ Trek Federation ships are MUCH smaller... the largest and most powerful Fed ships are roughly 700 meters long, with a VERY FEW reaching one KM.... yeah, things are smaller in Starfleet... odd, given that J-red commands the Texas Rangers. Razz

@ Dino - Don't forget that the Rangers also have the massive Argo and Andromeda classes. Though my command ship is the smaller than the Miranda Texas class. Razz

@ Scare - Thanks! This was really fun to build!
