(Perfect Grade) Starships from 'Star Trek' (2009)

on Sun Jul 21, 2013 7:12 pm
Recently I have been building a few starships in Perfect Grade, and now's a good time to show most of them off (not that there's ever a bad time Razz). First, the USS Kelvin:

Licensed literature calls this vessel the Einstein-class, and states that it is an offshoot of the Saladin/Hermes design.

Next is the Mayflower, which has a similar shape to the Miranda from the Prime universe:
Mayflower 1:
Mayflower 2:

Concept art for the 2009 movie shows the Mayflower with a rollbar, although the vessel in the final movie does not have one. There may be a variant that does, however.
Mayflower Variant:

Third is the Armstrong, a vessel similar to the Mayflower but with three nacelles and a rollbar. The impulse thrusters have been moved to a notch cut in the hull.

Fourth is the Newton, a ship built with components from the Kelvin. It has two secondary hulls and two nacelles, but just half a saucer.

And last but not least is the new Enterprise. A lot of the credit for this one goes to Johnnyred, particularly for the nacelles and engineering hull.

There will be a few more coming soon, but for now, enjoy!

Those are BEAUTIFUL, RMM! Love the Newton, most of all. I like your combined style of SNOT and normal building. I think you did an excellent job on the nacelles and the saucers, especially.

WOW!!!! I'm not sure if I'm more blown away by:
A) your AMAZING skill with SNOT,
B) the sheer NUMBER of ships in this upload, or
C) the fact that I actually LIKE 2009 Trek ships... all save the new take on the Enterprise... that just doesn't look right some how. (You BUILT it to be very accurate, I just don't care for the "canon" *year right Razz * version of the ship.)

WELL done Rmm!!!! Very Happy I LOVE them!

I think what surprises me the most is how much these look like custom PCG ships from around the first year/year and a half of the PCG... (Eg, Johnny Thunder, Triumphant) GREAT work!

Also, I MUST say it again... your SNOT is SCARILY good.... Did J-red hack your account? Razz (JK)

Very nice, love all of them! I'm not exactly sure if they'd be in "Perfect Grade" though. I know for sure that the Enterprise isn't. The actually size of the Enterprise in the new series has been pretty much doubled, and is now somewhere around 700 meters long.

Aside from that, excellent work. I really love the Kelvin!

Thanks everyone!

I got the lengths from Ex Astris Scientia's Abramsverse gallery, although some may be just slightly off. I decided on a length of 366 meters for the Enterprise based on the arguments presented here.

Gotcha. Very well done, thank you very much for that, this makes me VERY happy, I shall now use 366 m as my official length for a Perfect Grade Constitution IV.
