PCS Regina Caeli

on Fri Jul 26, 2013 3:12 pm
Introducing the PCS Regina Caeli, my character's starship for Scare's roleplay.

Regina Caeli 1:

The Regina Caeli (Latin for 'Queen of Heaven') is a Sovereign-class starship, launched in AD 2401 under the name and registry USS Chelsea (NCC-80357).

The Chelsea served valiantly in Starfleet for decades, until one fateful day when she came across a pirate's nest. Charging in, guns blazing, she was hit by a heavy torpedo barrage which brought down her shields, then crippled by a heavy phaser array mounted on the pirate base. Adrift and leaking atmosphere, the crew managed to fight off the pirates' boarding party until assistance arrived.

After this, the Chelsea was refitted for survey use and eventually fell into the hands of the Phoenix Command Group, which changed her name and registry to honor an Excelsior-class vessel that had gone missing a few months earlier. The PCG used her as a border patrol and survey vessel. A couple years before the Commodore crisis broke out, Captain Linus Victorson received command of the Regina Caeli. When the conflicts finally began, he and his vessel served with distinction during the fighting, and after the war he was able to get the Regina Caeli refitted with more modern components, including Type XIII phaser arrays.

It's beautiful! It's SO smooth and speedy looking!  Very Happy There are but two suggestions I will make.

The nacelle pylons don't look like those of the Sovereign, I can't really explain it any more than that Razz

The nav deflector, there should bee some strut/neck/things coming up connecting the engineering hull to the saucer that hide the neck from the side view.

Other than those two details.... this is one GORGEOUS ship!!!  Very Happy  SO sleek and aggressive,  refined and slender.. she's a fine ship!  Very Happy Now I need to get mine done....  Razz

Almost forgot, you do have an extra impulse engine bellow, but I assume that is part of the refit.

Wait, there are inaccuracies? Let me look up an image of - Oh, ah, yes yes, that's all part of the refit. Inaccurate by design, and all that. Razz

Thanks Dino! The extra impulse engine is indeed part of the refit, same with the way the original impulse engines are now mounted.

OOoooooh! It's hard to impress me with canon ships (or canon based), but this is really nice! I'm impressed. It's beautiful! I just wish it had more weapons. Razz

The mini-nacelles on the back of the main disc is an interesting touch. I also really like how you rounded off the black detail pieces on the disc's exterior. Nicely built, RMM! Very Happy

Excellent ship, RMM! It's nice to actually see a physical picture of something that is in my RPG. Wink

Personally, I think it represents the Sovereign class quite well, but being an unorthodox designer myself, I can't give a very intelligent view of it. Razz

But from my layman's standpoint, good work!

STOP IT RMM, YOU ARE MAKING ME LOOK BAD. Razz

Would that missing Excelsior happen to be the one in First Contact?
