[OOC to General Jace: What Dino said. ;)Thou art not ignored, my friend!]

*Commander Turson giggles wildly as the Liberty crashes into a cluster of five small warbirds.*

"Pick them off like ticks!" he roars. "Torpedo room! Unleash a volley of photon torpedoes from our tubes on the hull! We must eliminate the cruisers on our sides."

"Aye, aye, sir!" responds the torpedo room on the IC.

"How are our shields now?" he asks.

"Eighty percent, sir, and declining slowly," replies a lieutenant. "We are taking moderate fire from a warbird on our rear."

"Fire two acoustic torpedoes from the rear tubes," commands Turson. "Adjust them to maximum setting."

"Sir!" cries the radar man. "One of the warbirds on our right has lost control and is heading towards us! It will crash into our hull at any moment."

"Brace yourselves!" cries Turson, taken aback by this unexpected event.

*The small Romulan warbird collides sideways into the hull of the Liberty, knocking nearly everyone off their feet and sending sparks and electrical fires everywhere.*

"Damage report!" croaks Turson, clinging for dear life to the Captain's Seat.

"Shields at fifty-five, percent, sir, and rapidly failing!" shouts the lieutenant. "The two remaining warbirds are concentrating their fire on our saucer!"

"Take evasive action, helmsmen!" hollers Turson.

*The Liberty rears up, exposing its armored keel to the Romulan firepower.*

"Sir!" says the lieutenant. "Shields at 47%!"

*Turson closes his eyes. "Father in Heaven, I have been a fool," he whispers. "Forgive me for my pride. Save us now from the--"*

*Turson is cut short by a rumbling throughout the ship.*

"Where were we hit?" he asks.

"We weren't, sir!" says the lieutenant. "The Paladin's torpedoes just destroyed those two warbirds."

"To Jesus be all glory!" cheers Turson. "How are our shields now?"

"Still 47%, sir. Damage control says they can repair them enough to reach 60%, but no more until after combat."

*The Liberty maneuvers back to her normal position and, though still bombarding smaller warbirds with her phasers, stays a safer distance from the brunt of the battle for several minutes while her shields recover.*

Rumbing, the YCNS Elector charged its phase drive, preparing for the trans-dimensional jump. With a sudden lurch, it was in. The Elector's captain, David Thuul, turned to the navigator.

"Joannis, do you have an ETA until the next drop?" he asked, referring when a ship in phase space dropped out of its jump upon entering the gravity well of a planet.

"Two minutes, sir. The zone is an asteroid belt."

"Acknowledged," Thuul said, starring out of the bridge windows at the beautiful blue glow that enveloped all of his ship. As difficult as military life was, the wonders of the galaxy tended to make up for it.

With a sudden, ship-shaking THUD, the ship dropped out of phase space.

"Take us through to the other side of the belt, helmsman."

"Aye, sir."

Shields protecting the ship, the Elector plunged into the asteroid belt, batting away massive, slow-moving chunks of rock with the shields. The nose was almost through when the bridge's sensorman pipped up.

"Sir, I'm getting multiple vessel signatures originating from the field. They match... no, that can't be right."

"What does the console say, son?" asked Thuul.

"They're matching Cor Redor CRS-B Frigate signatures, but that can't be right. The asteroids must be messing with the sensors."

"You know dang well our sensors are better built than that. What's their location?"

"They're- oh no, they're on an intercept cour-"

"All hands, man your battle stations!" Thuul boomed. He wasn't going to take any chances with this: he was going to be ready. "Joannis, when can we jump?"

"We'll be completely clear of the gravity well in six minutes, sir."

"Dang it," scowled Thuul, just as warning sirens began to wail.

"Sir, enemy ships have launched torpedoes!"

"Helmsman, evasive maneuvers!"

"Aye, captain!"

Like hawks, the Cor ships descend on the small Republic Class Frigate, unleashing their armaments. The Elector's small, fast EMWP-10 Light AutoCannons blasted at the incoming torpedoes, destroying four of them. However, two got through the storm of lead and struck the Elector amidships, just as the frigate's two squadrons of fighters and bombers, thirty and fifteen individual craft respectively, were gearing up to take off.

"Damage report!" Thuul ordered.

"No major structural damage, sir. Shields are at 89% and declining steadily. The Cor's energy launchers are mostly being sucked up by our shields, but there's only so much our shields can take before they burst and are out."

"I want all weapons to concentrate fire on a single target. We might be able to give one of them a good licking until we reach the edge of the gravity well."

"Aye, sir!" the weapons officer exclaimed.

Bright red particle beams stabbed out of two of the three IPC-2a Mk. I Beam Platforms mounted on the Elector, working over the shields of the closest frigate. The ship's able AutoCannons added to the mix, the heavy rounds helping to bring down the enemy's shields. The EMWP-10/AA Flak Cannon Platform pounded away at the swarm of fighters buzzing around and striking the Elector like so many mosquitoes.

However, it was not enough. Within a minute, the Cor frigates had overloaded the frigate's shields, pumping them so full of energy-based rounds that they literally popped. Explosions rocked the ship.

"Sir, decks two, six, and seven are breached. The observation deck is gone. The fighter and bomber squads have experienced 60% and 80% casualties, an-" A extremely loud THUMP, unlike an explosion or torpedo, shook the deck. Suddenly, the bridge's right wall exploded inwards, and the reptilian Cor boarders poured out. Whipping out his AP-7 captain's pistol, Thuul fired once, hitting a Cor soldier's torso, before he was gunned down by a hail of energy rounds. Gunning down the rest of the bridge crew, the Cor moved on.

Johnnyred rolls the Paladin on it's axis by 45 degrees, shock cannons and Quantum torpedoes firing in all directions.

"Keep firing until the barrels melt, John!" Johnnyred yelled from his command bridge. "I want these Romulans pounded to dust!! Daggers give us fighter support! Hanger Bay, prepare to launch fighters!"

Weaving in and out of the enemy ships, Johnnyred maneuvered the Paladin light a fighter. A look of determination was on his face, mixed with a small grin.

"I will not allow my friends to perish because of a cowardly deception like this! Andromeda classes, push forward! Argo Fire on the outer fringes of the enemy formation with your Wave-Shock Cannons! This battle belongs to us!"

[OOC] I lost my post. Sad [/OOC]

*Summary mode enabled.*

The IWR Kor'dac is destroyed. Helm Officer Ensign Jim Jalopy expertly navigates the long USS Burlington through the debris. Gary wants to promote Jim Jalopy to First Lieutenant. Two Harpy Destroyers are bearing in on the Burlington's rear. The Harpies evade a full phaser spread. Harpies are armed with very powerful, but short ranged pulsed disruptor cannons like the Defiant. Power is diverted from the engines to the rear shields. Gary orders the left warp nacelle to be turned off so they can vent an antimatter cloud around the Harpies, hampering propulsion even more and putting Jim Jalopy to the limit of his expertise. "Bring in the Fog of War!" The antimatter engulfs the Harpies just as they enter firing range, and a torpedo is about to be fired into the cloud.

In the meantime, Gary has gained full confidence in his crew.

*The Liberty, with shields now up to 61%, cautiously rejoins the main thrust of the battle.*

"Commander," says Lieutenant Smythe (who, by the way, if you haven't guessed it already, is Turson's aide). "The Alth'Indor is being pounded by the warbirds in the rear of the Romulan forces. Shall we aid her?"

"By all means!" cries Turson. "Take her in swift and cautious, helmsmen."

*The Liberty advances on the scene, blasting at two medium-sized warbirds that are attacking the Alth'Indor.*

*Tyson sprinted to his fighter as soon as he was given leave and powered it up, entering the fray. Unfortunatly, or maybe fortunatly, there where no enemy fighters to target. So he began the more dangerous task of destorying critical enemy components on their hull, whilst making him an excellent target for their point-defense systems. He headed for the middle of the Romulan fleet, as the ships there where not currently experiencing combat and could provide a clearer and more calm perspecitve of the battle for their allies on the front/rear. They also where lax about their own gaurd, concentrating on the front where they where not currently in danger of. Tyson straffed enemy bridges with his powerful gattling guns as he flew toward the middle, sending blinding flashes over the viewscreens on the bridges of the Romulans which, while it did very little damage to the vessel itself, distracted the Romulans onbaord as they where forced to shield their eyes. This delayed their reaction times to anything they where currently working on and forced them to remember back to which ship they where fighting and where it was.

Upon reaching the middile, Tyson selected a perfect choice for a target, a D'deridex class Romulan warbird, one that was so blatantly obviously not desgined with small strike craft in mind. It almost made Tyson want to cry with their short-sightedness, which Romulans where not known more. He flew quickly inbetween the two split sections of the Warbird, which formed a nice little hollow protected on the front (partially), rear (partially), top, bottom, and even the two sides some. The ship was now incapable of attacking him, except with it's inner upper phaser array, and any other ship would risk hitting the Romulan vessel's warp naccles in order to hit him. Pitiful design in deed.* They probably wont' let this happen twice though, this'll become the perfect fighter kill zone next time. *But for now, it wasn't, and Tyson primed his missiles and quickly disabled the only weapon system, one meant for ship-to-ship battle, capable of hitting him. He then began destroying various other peices of equipment on the inside that looked important, such as the sheild generator, also located on the inside. Shield generators usually had a greater amount of shield power concentrated there, as they where the source of the shield, but they also had their weak spots, if you coudl hit them right. Tyson knew how to hit most shield generators right, and after a few tries was able to permanently cripple the Romulan's shields. Then he began to simply bore straight through the ship with his anti-captial ship cannons.*

"Alright boys and girls, move it out! We've got a covert combat insertion onto the enemy's flagship, and I want it done flawlessly!"

Several RDC's and EAF-42's (new fighter, I'll post it...later) take off from the Manticore and immediately cloak, moving towards the Romulan Warbird. The strike team's leader starts issuing orders and giving a brief on the mission. Each Marine, in response to the question "Are you ready?!" racks the charging handles on their rifles, checking their armor and other gear before they move in for the final assault.

"Sir, the Romulans have opened fire," the comms officer said calmly, "We are twenty-nine percent through our circuit. One Warbird is heading directly at us, its weapons are nearly charged."

"I know," replied Daragon, totally unsurprised, "execute plan B-14, mod seven, call in MP1-SN1 and -SN2."

"Yessir!"

The five ships grow closer in formation to the Warbird, until they are just meters outside firing range. Suddenly and simultaneously, the two Falcons and two Vardas branch off from the Rising Sun, the Vardas peeling out and up at 45 degrees and the Falcons inverting the maneuver, while the Rising Sun continues straight. The Warbird focuses entirely on the Idril class frigate, identified as the flagship of the small group, hoping to take it down before the inevitable ambush. Sure enough, the Vardas open fire with their railguns, handling like starfighters while they evade stray rounds from other ships, and the Falcons fire from below, dropping the Warbirds shields like rocks.

"Shields at forty percent, sir," came the report, "ETA MP1-SN1 twelve seconds."

"Open fire," returned the admiral, "halt the maneuver, reverse thrusters, all other power to forward shields. Report the change to MP1-SN1 and SN2."

With silent and nearly invisible flashes of destruction, the Rising Sun's forward flak cannons began pumping rounds into the Warbird. Exactly as the Romulan shields failed, a ripple appeared on the outskirts of the battlefield and two Terminus MkIII class frigates, escorted by two brand new Wrangler MkIII class frigates, appeared in line with the maneuver. Almost immediately, sixteen heavy railgun slugs slammed into the Warbird, relieving it of its front half.

"Nicely done. Regular two-team flagship protocol from here," Daragon reported to his squadrons. As he spoke, another team of two Terminus MkIII's and two Wrangler MkIII's appear some distance from the first team. Suddenly, the four Wranglers raise their speed and enter the battle in sync, while the Terminuses simultaneously disappear with a flash.

"Snipers deployed, escorts moving to soften targets."

"Good. Vardas, spotting duty. Falcons, stay on us."

"Yessir."

Wed Jul 31, 2013 8:26 pm
[OOC NOTE TO ALL: From here on, official GM changes to a scene will appear in bold, dark red type. END OOC]

As the Sons of Liberty voraciously pound away at the Romulan warbirds, the battle is eventually won. Two small warbirds tear away from the wreckage and jump into warp. Two Osprey Class cruisers are sent to pick them off before they can reach the Romulan Empire capital of Rator III.

The damages to the Sons of Liberty fleet are minimal. No ships are lost, but a number of small ships are badly damaged. Larger cruisers such as the Alth'Indor, Paladin, and Liberty are scarred but being repaired quickly.

Elated at their victory, the Sons of Liberty head for Rator III, the present homeworld of the shaky Romulan Star Empire. Little do they know, however, what a difficult task this will be.

Libertarian Command has advised the fleet to be cautious of future Romulan tricks. Thus far, the President and his supporters do not know of the Sons of Liberty or their plan to invade Earth and restore peace to the Federation. But that is about to change...

*Aboard the PCS Liberty, a lone figure enters a dark, empty communications room and signals the Federation's President. The President's face appears on a small viewing screen.*

"Well, well!" he smiles cunningly (in typical Romulan fashion). "I thought you would never contact me. Are the PCG aware of my plans?"

"They are, sir," replied the figure. "They have sent a large fleet of various vessels from various groups to Rator III. Then they plan to assault you on Earth."

*The President's face clouds over with anxiety. Then a cruel smile flashes across it.*

"Well, you know what to do," says he.

"Yes sir," replies the figure. "Sabotage."

[OOC to All: Until I set the next scene, various chit-chats or funny events among the fleet are acceptable and welcomed to add humor and personality to our characters. Stay tuned, however, 'cause at any moment we may see a hint of who this Saboteur is! Wink ]

*Commander Turson walks the Observation Deck on the PCS Liberty. Beside him is Lieutenant Smythe, who is rambling on about various damages inflicted during combat, and how they have been repaired, and other such ship-lingo.*

"Smythe," sighs Turson. "Thank you for your report, but honestly I'm shook up from the fight, and would like to just spend some time with friends."

"I understand sir," replies Smythe. "Shall I hail any of the ships?"

"Send a general invitation," says Turson. "Anyone who wishes to come aboard may do so."

"Aye, aye, Commander!" salutes Smythe, and exits the Observation Deck.

*Turson saunters through the ship, back towards his personal office. He hadn't slept in nearly 48 hours, but he still wanted to socialize with his fellow officers. He was just about to enter his office when a voice on the IC stopped him.*

"Brig to Commander Turson, brig to Commander Turson," it said.

*Turson taps his PCG badge to answer.*

"This is Turson," he says. "What's the problem?"

"Sir, it seems we have a traitor aboard," says the voice. "A young ensign of Romulan heritage almost halted our progress in battle by refusing to fire a torpedo while working in the Torpedo Room."

"I'll be down in a moment," replies Turson.

*Turson hurries towards the lift, a thousand thoughts flitting through his mind. "So, old ties are interfering with new ones, eh?" he thinks. "Well, we shall see."*

*A few minutes later, Turson is standing before a cell in the brig. A young Romulan is behind the forcefield barrier that traps prisoners in the cell. A Chief Petty Officer stands to Turson's right.*

"So this is the Ensign, eh, Chief?" says the Commander.

"Yes, sir," replies the Chief. "He utterly refused to cooperate, to the point where he disobeyed direct orders from a Lieutenant Commander. Kept saying, 'I shall not fire on my kin!' over and over again. He was hysterical, sir."

"Is that what you said, Ensign?" asks Turson.

"Yes, sir," the Ensign replies. "And I would gladly say it again, if put under such circumstances again."

"Oh! The Ensign is a smarty, I see," chuckles Turson. "What is your name, Ensign?"

"My name is Koren Sl'indor," says the Ensign.

"Well, Sl'indor," replies Turson. "Can you tell me why you did what you did?"

"My parents were once subjects under the Romulan Star Empire," says the Ensign. "They were banished shortly after I was born because they did not support the Praetor of the time. They fled to Federation territory, but they always remained faithful to our people. They instilled such patriotism in me. I--"

"Chief, continue the questioning," interrupts Turson. "I have an appointment with friends."

*As Turson walks away, Ensign Sl'indor gives him an icy glare.*

*Tyson continues working on his fighter, scrubbing away extra grime and excess lubricant and filtering liquids to remove contaminates that always got in there, as well as resuppling his weapons as best as he could with the Liberty's own supply. Most star-fighters, while usually designed and outifitted with a particular kind of ordinance in mind, where in truth able to take a very wide variety of it in case of a need to use an allies or even another fighter's type of ordinance. As such Tyson was for the most part able to resupply his fighter, though not quite to his perferred liking. He also continued to make sure everything was polished down and the computer systems where still clean and functional, and in short, made sure every inch of it down to the dust on the obsucre nuts and bolts and wiring where in peak condition, which meant his fighter was in several peices at various points in time, though he tried to make sure he could quickly put it back together if he needed too. Somewhere in the middle of it all his personal communicator beeps, Tyson chooses not to attent to the social gathering for now. The fighter's matinence was much more important, and more perferable.*

"Our shields are up to 79 percent, J-red," Turson replies, also through the comm system. "I'd say in about an hour they should be fully functional. We sustained significant damage to our hull, but that is under construction and should be repaired in a couple Earth days. Other than that, we're doing well. How about the Paladin?"

"Deflector #1 is at 67% and rising quickly and Deflector #2 is at 78% and rising." Johnnyred replies. "Damage is minimal, should be repaired fairly quickly. We're sending over most of our Worker Bees to aid in the repair of your ship."

"Sir," the comms officer aboard the Rising Tide calls, "USS Liberty sent a general hail thirty-seven seconds ago, inviting the presence of any captains who wished to board."

"Full status report," Daragon replies.

"IFS Rising Tide, RRLSS fully regenerated and CS-127 at 89%. Structural damage minimal, no casualties. Falcon classes both fully repaired, excepting the IFS True of Aim's HMT system, which is partially damaged and requires shipyard maintenance. Idril class IFS Lightfoot took heavy structural damage; as a liability, she returned to the fleet and the IFS Aethersprite is returning in her place. All other ships now repairing minimal structural damages. Total twenty-seven casualties, twenty-two on the IFS Lightfoot. The fleet remains stable, as do stock reports and income rate. MP1-SN1 and MP1-SN2 await further orders."

"I will join the others aboard the Liberty. Ready a shuttle and my guard. Have MP1-SN1 and SN2 return to their respective previous positions and await updates. Send the scavenger teams out with marine escorts."

Siriondil leaves in his shuttle, and approaches the Liberty.

"IFS Rising Tide 1 to USS Liberty, responding to general hail and requesting permission to enter docking bay. Please acknowledge."
