PCG Errant Class-B

on Sun Oct 20, 2013 3:40 pm
I wasn't completely happy with the Errant Class science vessels; they felt odd to me, but I didn't know what or how to fix them. That's where Ant and Scare came in. They told me what to work on, and how specifically to do it. I took my first Errant Class, which I'm now calling the Class-A, rounded out the underside by adding a few more layers and some darker pieces as detailing, and made the nose more defined by making the layers more obvious and changing the shape. The armaments are the same on both classes.

Spoiler:
The Errant Class-B
Spoiler:
The re-imagined underside
Spoiler:
Class-A on the left, Class-B on the right
Link to the .lxf files for both the old Class-A and this one: http://universe.lego.com/en-us/community/creationlab/displaycreation.aspx?id=36fb182e-1f3f-4463-b039-f0285c5cfe37&searchtext=soccergirl676

As usual, comments and criticisms are very much appreciated. I wouldn't have been able to make this ship without them! Wink
On another note, what websites do you guys use for uploading .lxfs? With the Creation Lab closing, I'm not sure what I'm going to do from now on...

Very nice! The new one definitely looks better, even though the Class-A was pretty cool to begin with.

It definitly lokos much better! It still seems kinda busy in it's top detail, but like I said, I'm not sure how I'ld fix that. I think I'ld just have to do it myself, since I can't find a way to put it into words to offer criticizms so you can fix it. Razz But the overall shape is still very nice! I might make the naccles slighyl thicker, but that's more of a personal preference. Some may like them thinner like taht. It's up to you.

Now THAT is one SERIOUSLY NICE ship! WELL done!!! I love it! It is distinctly unique, and yet graceful, functional, and powerful all at once, EXCELLENT work! My goodness you have come such a long way... this is NIIIICE! If I didn't know better, I'd say that this was an earlier, unreleased piece by Scare... (I mean that as the highest compliment Smile ) GREAT job! Very Happy

Goodness, Ant, you're so hard to please! At least you like the new shape. :PI prefer thinner nacelles, personally. The Enterprise-D had a great look to it, and the nacelles were smaller in comparison to the rest of the ship than I thought they should've been. Didn't like it at first, but it grew on me!

Dino, you have just made me very very happy! :DHaving my ship compared to ANYTHING Scare has built is a very high compliment (which you are the master of giving)! Thank you!

Yeah, I can be, but that's because I like to always push people to improve. Razz I did say that it was much better though didn't I? You should build more! Very Happy

Soccergirl, want to know where I learned it? LegoTrain. Now HE is the master of compliments. He always has something encouraging to say, from the guy who just built is first ship, up to the masters.

I'm glad to be of encouragement in your building: this is a great ship, it looks so rugged and yet... I'm not sure what the right word is, it's not quite "graceful" it is too powerful for that... no one would call a heavy weight boxer graceful... and yet there is something graceful about how a skilled boxer moves... "stream lined" is what I am looking for? At any rate, I really like this ship! It certainly has some Scare inspiration to it... but I think I see some Gandalf too... very well done! Very Happy This reminds me a lot of the "Enterprise" (TV show) era ships (older than the original series with Kirk) nice.... very nice.

I like your improvements to the nose and underside, Soccergirl! It definitely aids in the appearance. Wink

Thanks, boys!
Dino: Oops, late reply is late... Anyway, yeah, I basically just went and stared at all of my favorite ships before I built this, so it has a bit of everyone's styles, although some are more noticeable than others. And I'm totally in agreement with you about the boxers! Wink
Scare: The nose felt a bit odd when I redesigned it, but I'm finally starting to love it! It's actually one of my favorite parts now!

Anything split down the middle is my kind of design...as you can obviously see in all my latest starships. Razz

You know, you ought to do a split-saucer some time. Who knows? Maybe that will be your greatest talent in starship building! Personally, it is for me. Don't know why...guess it's just because I've had oodles of practice. Wink

Split-saucer? Like the two layers on your Liberty and the other ships I can't remember the names of? I thought about it when I downloaded the latest LDD patch, actually, but then finals week reared its ugly head. Maybe Friday morning, when I can sleep late after the evil is defeated... I really want to keep improving with starships. If I survive the next two days, I'll definitely give a split-saucer attempt! Very Happy
