Imperial Marines- Dress Uniform
Thu Jun 13, 2013 3:48 pm
For those occasions when CierTech Excel-02 Combat Armor is inappropriately combat-ready, the Imperial Marines are issued a secondary uniform. This uniform is mostly used for ceremonial duties, receiving foreign dignitaries that require impressing rather than intimidating, and other such things that do not require blast armor. I would describe it to you, but you can just look at the picture instead.
Enjoy!

Good show old chap! Oh... wait... I just got this distinctly English impression from that torso :PBack on topic, that's a nice dress uniform, although I'm not sure about the brown hat... Black would tie in better with the rest of the outfit, although the brown is less formal. Anyways, well done! One other thing though... isn't it customary to salute with the right hand? Or is left-handed the MSI version?

Dino: I didn't have a black hat. I wouldn't preferred a grey torso similar to this, but I didn't have one. The salute? Argh! Yeah, that's my bad. It should be right-handed.

Then a black hat wouldn't be the best option would it :PI just thought of it 'cause I have a couple from some city sets... but I don't have any in brown The red torso is actually very attention getting, in a good way.
Secret MSI reverse salute signifying secret secrets of top secret nature secrets of some sort then?
Have I mentioned that I LOVE your profile pic? That is an awesome fig... the printing, rifle, red arms, and backpack just make it REALLY good!

Alright, factor in the grey torso...I suppose a white cover with black bill...bloodstripe down the side...some "decorative" pockets in the sleeves and on the thighs...yeah, not too bad. May I ask what the material is?

Rats, and I thought I was putting a lot of thought into it just by making a dress uniform...
Material? Probably just normal cotton or a similar fabric. It's not designed for combat, so I didn't include Kevlar or anything like that.

While I can understand, MAD, assassinations aren't ever out of the question. I mean, Marines are always combat-ready. Shouldn't their uniforms be as well? I mean, by "decorative pockets" I meant sheaths for knives and other such objects.
Not to mention the fact that cotton is hot and itchy.

That's true, I suppose. Actually, now that you mention it, ceremonies tend to involve important political and military figures, so the dress uniforms should be at least nominally protective. So... maybe a normal fabric coat over Kevlar, maybe with relatively thin plastoid plates under the sleeves and pants? That way they'd have some protection against falls and blows and things, but they still look spiffy.

Well, you could do like they did in that one RC book, have full plates that have custom-tailored clothes to disguise them. As for the fabric, just interweave the top-most layer with the Kevlar fibers. That work?

Sounds spiffy AND protective. You could do covert Kevlar/plastoid vests, with some elbow and knee pads built in to the outfit, we already have covert bullet proof (why the call it bullet "proof" I'll never know ) vests that you can where under normal clothing with good protection, without anyone else knowing you have it on.
Am I over thinking stuff again.... nah! This is cool

ARC: Okay, that sounds great.
Dino: Thanks! Yeah, that's pretty much what we're doing, I think, except ARC suggested we actually build the Kevlar into the coat itself.

MAD: Pretty much, yeah. I've been meaning to ask if I could make some drawings with the Marines' new uniforms and rank insignia? I've come up with a whole new set, and I even have an MSIMC insignia to add on the collar.

You do? Awesome! Yeah, you can certainly post those.
One thing about that acronym, though... Technically, the MSI's Marines aren't called the Marine Corps. at the moment. I called them the Imperial Marines both to avoid seeming like I was copying the USMC too much (I wanted them to be unique, though they are obviously a lot like the US Marines) and because the Imperial Marines covers the Marines themselves, plus the Commando Corp. and some other complimentary forces. Then again, MSIMC sounds a lot better than MSIIM or IMs, so... I dunno.

A little suggestion, you could maybe use both Imperial Marines as their name and MSIMC as their official acronym. There are many examples in the real world of divisions in a military having multiple names or acronyms of themselves.

Okay, so we'll go with Imperial Marines of the MSIMC.
MAD: Once I get around to drawing the armor and uniforms, along with some weapons (probably the two guns I posted here) with the entire list of rank insignia for both enlisted and officers. (There'll also be different uniforms for enlisted and officers.)
