PCG Richter

on Mon Aug 11, 2014 10:25 am

The new Arbiter Class is built and assembled by Alpha Centauri Fleet yards based on the Federation's older Shiloh Class Warship, with the first of its class, the tactically inclined PCG Richter, being built for export to the Space Defense Fleet of the Phoenix Command Group.

more pictures:

.LXF (hosted by the LEGO Videogames Gallery)

The original Shiloh Class Warship and its experimental spatial weapon saw a lot of action in their short service years. The Shiloh and several similar advanced warship marques were built to give Star Fleet and her allies an advanced edge in combat against the rogue forces of Commander Jandar.

When the campaign was over and the war was won, the peace-loving Federation was quick to put the Shiloh and her tactically inclined stablemates in Surplus Depots, as they do not believe in utilizing advanced weapons of war when there is not a war going on.

The PCG Richter was launched in the year 2514, a number of years after the war was over, but this tactically inclined starship of the new Arbiter Class is not going to the Federation. Stripped of its spatial weapon but equipped with much more powerful phasers and torpedoes, the Shiloh-based PCG Richter will find better combat use among the Phoenix Command Group than it could, can, or ever will get serving under the white flag of the Federation.

Plenty more ships of the Arbiter Class are on their way out of Alpha Centauri Fleet Yard's manufacturing docks, so within half a year every PCG member should have a small fleet of these guys. Smile

YAY! Thanks Talmid!  I always LOVED your Shiloh class, and I'm glad to be able to use the decedents of that class now. Very Happy

Like the original, she is unique, special, tactical, purpose built, and yet still a work of art.

I really love the "winged" design that you used on this family of ships, it looks almost like a Federation/Alien collaboration, but with it still CLEARLY being a Starfleet ship.

As usual, WELL done! And thank you! Very Happy

@Dino: Alien? Razz

Anyway, nice ship! I really like the unique yet Fed-dy design. Razz The stern design is very nice as well. Btw, if you're making a ship that's based on the Shiloh, can you make another that's based on the Premier as well? That would be epic! Razz Anyway, excellent design!

Talmid, I figured, since I bluntly asked for it. Razz

I expected you to say, "go ahead and use the scrapped old ship without the big bad gun." But NO, you went and built an upgraded version! Razz Thanks again!

What?! Talmid posting a PCG ship?! What black magic is this? Razz

On a more serious note, this ship is absolutely epic. It just looks so smooth, like some master carpenter spent years refining it with sandpaper or something. Razz It's easily one of my favorites from you (if not my #1 fav). My one issue is that the warp nacelles looks a little... cramped. Razz

So when can I get my hands on some? Razz Laughing JK

Oooo, very nice! I love the wing shape. I do have to agree with Mighty about the warp nacelles, though. I think they could be raised a little bit. Other than that, I can't find anything wrong with this ship! Very Happy

Good job, Talmid! This is a great ship to add to the PCG's fleet!

I really like your detailing work. The weaponry and use of various slanted brick techniques gives it a definite air of fine-tuning. I also like your use of the slanting pieces on the rear section and the underside.

I would add some more detail to the rear, if possible, and also try to smooth some of the rough edges. Also, instead of using solid red or blue for the warp nacelle colors, I would suggest transparent red and blue to make it more realistic.

Again, great job on this ship!

Re: PCG Richter

@The Mighty Tetrahedron: Well, the idea with the nacelles is that they are integrated into the hull.  I actually read about Gene Roddenberry's physics for nacelles and if I remember correctly these nacelles actually violate the laws of his physics... but then again so do many canon Star Trek ships.  And we're in the 26th Century, it's been 500 years since the launch of the Phoenix, we must have made some breakthroughs since then. Razz

Ah, Lieutenant Commander, anxious are you? Razz Well, since you're a PCG member, five starships (a small fleet) are allotted to you, though they're not finished yet.  Production is a go, though.  Since the Arbiter is based on the Shiloh, we have all of the experience and the production stations ready to build pretty much the same thing.  As for when you can get them, I guesstimate we'll have around twenty starships in two months.  Arbiter #0, the Richter, is currently flying around doing PCG stuff, while 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 will go to Dino.  But you can get 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Smile

And thanks. Very Happy

edit: Augh! Post ninjas! Razz

@The Lord General: Thanks! I guess I could make some edits if the demand is high... they are kind of "cramped." Razz

@The Kommandant: Thanks! As long as I'm uncramping the warp nacelles I'll take a look at adding some more detail too. Very Happy

And you can have Arbiter #11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Razz

Hey, I like...erm... "variety" in my fleet. Yeah, variety, let's go with that... Razz

Who wouldn't be anxious to get their hands on these slices-o-awesome? Razz

Here is the Mark II, with some more detail and raised nacelles.

This LXF should be for the Mark II.
LXF from LEGO Video Games Gallery

The original Arbiter Class will now be known as the Arbiter Mark I. The PCG Richter is an Arbiter Mark 1, and Dino's five Arbiters are Mark 1s. The Arbiters to be delivered to Tetrahedron and Scarecrow will be Mark IIs.

I personally wasn't in the "the nacelles are too low!" group, but it's still one awesome looking ship!

Ahhgggg, they aren't streamlined anymore! Nooooooo! Sad Razz

JK, thanks for the modifications; it bugs me less now (though I still think it doesn't look quite as good Razz).

PXR, I searched "Red Glowing Dust" on Google Images and then stole that background from some webpage about nebulae....  Embarassed  But I'm not making money off of it! Razz

@Tetreahedron: Yeah, make up your mind! Razz Jk, it's not too late for you to get some Mark Is instead of Mark IIs. You could get a combination, like two Mark Is and three Mark IIs.

No, I'll take the MK.IIs; I was just surprised at how less-streamlined it was. Razz
