Blazing Angel Class Medical Cruiser

on Sun Oct 05, 2014 2:51 pm
~ Start Entry ~

While the Federation does not utilize armed medical ships, the PCG does.  Introducing the very first PCG medical ship ever created, now refitted and ready for service.  The Blazing Angel is the flagship of the PCG medical corps, commanded by Lieutenant Commander Jessica McCloud.

The Blazing Angel though on the small side, can still pack quite a punch.  Any ships opening fire upon a medical convoy are in for a rude awakening.  The Angel is equipped with several powerful shock cannons and photon torpedoes to insure the safety of its passengers.

The ships of this line were used heavily during Operation Omega to evacuate the injured from Sector 42-Omega during the Spectre War as well as to conduct search and rescue missions.  The sensor stack on the underside of the ship can detect with pinpoint accuracy, even the faintest of lifesigns and the location of the injured.

That's a very epic design. I absolutely love it! Your ships never fail to a amaze me, and this one lives up to your high quality. I love the little "wings" on the sides and bottom, and the frontal hull, using those diagonal plates, adds up to some very epic detailing. Great job! Very Happy

I love both this and the original. But you present me with a problem: which one do I love more? Razz

Great work!

Well, the original has been slightly modified into another craft that will be uploaded soon, so you can love them both. Razz

TBCH... I'm kinda meh on the whole design. Not because it's bad (it's fantastic), but because it's just too "space battleship". It doesn't look like a medical ship at all, it looks like a heavy cruiser. Again, I absolutely LOVE the actual ship (the SNOT hull in particular is just sublime), it just isn't the sort of thing that looks like a medical ship (the stats don't exactly help). Razz

It's a PCG med ship. They're all armed. Razz Spacedude made one once that was just a constitution class refitted to be a med ships. Razz

yeah, but I'm saying it has more of the "blow you out of existence with mah beeg guz" than "med cruiser", if you know what I mean. Razz

Pure awesomesauce. Very Happy

Bravo, J-red! As a ship, I can't see anything very wrong with it...this is one of your best non-canon ships!

I've always thought the Blazing Angels were awesome. The closest thing we Feds have are the Daedalus (22nd Century) and the Olympic Class, or some modified Mirandas.

@ Mighty - This statement pleases me. Razz

@ Scare - Danke! Very Happy

@ Talmid - I am quite familiar with the Daedalus and Olympus. Razz I had a Daedalus made a while back, but it wasn't in scale.

@ S-H - Thanks! This is high praise coming from the master himself. I've become a fan of nacelles built into the hull myself. The Deflector was kinda a last minute thing. Initially that grating was supposed to be just random greebling. Razz

I do have two suggestions:

The wasp-waisted design, although very cool, could present a bit of a structural integrity hazard. It appears as if it may weaken the ship, both from the top view, and especially from the side.
Even if SIF tech allows this design, somehow, in my mind, it doesn't work to have it so thin.

Second: I LOVE the integrated nacelles! I suggest you do more ships with them. Very Happy

Actually, if you look closer, you'll see that instead of getting thinner in the middle, it actually gets wider at the TOP. the width remains the same all the way through with the exception of the very upper hull. Also, apparently, I'm not as well voiced in acronyms as I would like to think, I don't know what SIF means. Razz

And don't worry, I plan to utilize the integrated nacelles quite a bit. Razz

Yes, but there's still a pretty narrow point there, even if surrounding structures are larger.

Structural Integrity Field.

Good! Very Happy

My ships will always include some kind of ST tech, which would primarily be deflectors (I love putting transparent dishes on stuff. Razz) and warp nacelles and impulse engines. Razz
