Re: Cor Redor Chapter 1: Deep Space 57

OOC: My lastest PM deals with that. Wink

GM POST

Per orders, the Galaxy, Andromeda, and Soveriegn classes pulled forward and continue firing, while the Argo continued to blow huge chunks out of the Cor Redor ships. However, the Defiant, Rhode Island, and Texas ships, plus the two Octegerian ships, where completely surrounded by the Cor Redor forces. The ships scattered, trying to break through the Cor Redor fleet whereever there seemed to be a weak point. By scattering there was no longer a large group of ships to target, but each ship no longer had the group to help protect it. Regardless, the order was to retreat and survive, not attack and take ships down. The light, agile ships wove in and out of the larger battle ships, pursued by several smaller Cor Redor each. In the mean time, the front Battleships abandoned any previous focus any of them had on the smaller ships, and began focus firing on the larger ships moving closer to them. A few of the battle ships in the rear, with their escorts, turned to face Green Division, and began firing on the Battra. As a group the Cor Redor began shifting down from their previous positions, spreading out, and continued their rearward progression. Several more ships on each side began to crumble under the relentless pounding from each side. The Omega class shield ships did their job wonderfully, with the ship's themselves remaining relatively unscathed, but due to the focus firing on the ships under their guard their shields began to falter. Avatar fleet remained stuck in the middle, and the ships inside the Cor Redor fleet, especially those of the rear-sides and bottom, began to maul the fleet, exchanging powerful blows.

Meanwhile, nearly a thousand Predator Missiles continued to fly above the Argo, spreading out as they did so. The captain looked at them, suspicious, and very worried. "All fighters, scramble to intercept those missiles!" But it was too late. Even as he spoke, the missiles passed the Argo, and shaply veered around and headed directly for it. They where spread out enough now that they came from the top, rear, and both sides, all barreling in towards the massive ship. Targetting was no problem, but the fighter's discovered that the massive missiles where tougher than expected, and each fighter couldn't simply fire on a missile and watch it blow up, but they each required more time to destroy one. Too much time, even as the phasers joined in firing on the missiles, with much greater effect. As the captain watched, he quickly ran over in his head which area they could be aiming for. "Track their trajectory, I want a specific point on the hull." "Yes sir......they're heading straight for the hangers!" And sure enough, even as the last few fighters scrambled out of teh hanger, the first predator missiles reached it, slamming through the thinner armor and flying straight through the forcefield sealing the ship from the vaccum of space. They slammed into the innards of the ship, some traveling quite far past the hanger and into the ship before finally coming to a stop and releasing their deadly cargo. Marines and crewmen scrambled to get out, draw their phasers, and man vehicles that would provide protection. "Give me a defensive permitter surrounding them!" screamed the captain, "All crew not operating the Wave Shock Cannons report to repel boarders, get me hard suits at every breach point and Mechs at hall-way large enough! MOVE!"

Jackson frowned, his fingers drumming faster than ever.
"Captain Johnnyred, you must make a decision. Shall we retreat and regroup, or stand our ground? It seems that the Argo has been hit, they probably need assistance.

He then turned, opening a sub-space channel to the Argo.
"Argo? This is King Arem speaking. Those things are tough. There's not much you can do to destroy them, tricking them into getting sucked into space or trapping them is really your only hope. At least, thats what I experienced."

If you need more players to keep this interesting, I'd be willing to join in.

Of course, I have no clue how a Minotaur member- not to mention one currently lacking any form of ships, backstory, etc. in his "sub-sect organization"- is supposed to join in on something like this, so feel free to say no.

Re: Cor Redor Chapter 1: Deep Space 57

The 87 ship detachment from Iron Fleet warps into Deep Space 58, lead by OOC (makes up NPC character) end OOC Petty Officer Reginald Longfield, commanding from the PCG Thunderhead, a hurricane class ship.

He swings the battle group round to meet the Cor Redor from their (CR's) starboard (right) side.
He has the cruisers, destroyers, and frigates push forward giving phaser fire and torpedoes like Antiproton Beams were just invented, concentrating their fire on only a few ships at a time. The powerful Hurricane class, Kaiju class, Scorpion class, Trident class, Galaxy class, and Ronin class form the heavy hitters of the assault while the lighter cruisers such as the Excelsiors, Nebulas, Ambassador, and Patriot assist as best they can. Meanwhile he has the mid-sized ships such as the Akiras, Stonewalls, Steamrunners, Intrepid, Prometheus, Norways, Gulls, and Falcons dart forward to fire only when they see a good opportunity, but for the most part he has them stay back behind the heavier ships, waiting for a Predator missile attack, or for a light enemy ship to stray too far from the fleet. He has his fighters remain entirely behind his man ships, waiting for the sole purpose of taking out Predator missiles. The rest of his ships, mostly small, outdated models, he has fill in wherever they can, avoiding the heaviest fighting, serving more to repair and assist the main line of battle vessels unless they find themselves unintentionally facing the enemy.

Petty Officer Reginald Longfield orders 5 Saber class, 3 Defiant class, 4 Centaur class, 1 Robert E. Lee class, the PCG Intrepid, 2 Seraphims, 1 Gull class, and 3 Miranda class ships to assist Johnnyred and Aokpisz.

He then hails J-red. "I have dispatched multiple light vessels to aid your retreat. I suggest you clear a broader path that will permit me to send heavier ships to offer greater fire support. JAMMERS ACTIVATED! JOHNNYRED ONLY.
Sir, I believe that we are being lead into a trap. They outnumber by more than a two to one margin, and yet they are giving ground. Please do not underestimate them, Sir, they clearly have the tactical advantage, and yet they fall back. This smells of a trap; I advise that we send scout ships in the direction that they are retreating in to investigate what is waiting there for us. JAMMERS OFF!
Also Yaka has been hailing us for a considerable amount of time, I believe that it is a sales call. Better during a two to one battle than in the middle of dinner at any rate. But I digress, I am currently attacking the Redor's starboard flank, but just say the word and I will switch to any strategy you wish to utilize, Sir.

He sends his Nautilus class, escorted by 2 Cheyenne class ships, and 1 Osprey class to help the Argo.
The unnamed NPC ship's captain in command of the Squadron hails the Argo. "I strongly suggest you get your hangers and a two hundred meter perimeter clear of anything you want alive NOW! I don't have time to explain, but you're about to take a little friendly fire, say "when" and I think I can help you with your bug problems! Now hurry for life's sake!!!"

OOC Just so you know, AA asked me to control his forces while he's away. End OOC

The remaining Green Division vessels stationed at DS-58 pull away from the rear of the Cor Redor retreat and join the Iron Fleet vessels on the Cor Redor's starboard flank. They fall back behind their as yet lightly scathed allies to lick their wounds and help as best they can until further orders are received from the council.

Meanwhile... The PCG Indomitable, PCG York, and PCG Potomac rush at high warp, escorted by additional ships, towards Star Base 57 and the surrounding chaos.
Dino hales the PCG. "Sorry for the delay. I'm on my way now. In the meantime Petty Officer Reginald Longfield is a highly competent officer, I have known and trusted him for all of five minutes years. Also, I suggest you do as I am, replicate additional force field generators for ship interiors to be placed between decks, and around locations of extreme importance. Also, I further advise replicating projectile based, chemically fired weapons, as energy weapons seem... quite useless against the Redor. Once he returns, AA should be most helpful in that area, and Ill bet that Kojan can get us some nifty Yaka tech... By the way... he wants to know why we haven't answered his hales... One last thing, we're going to need some fast, mid-sized, cheap to build, good quality frigates, escorts, cruisers, and destroyers. Also, the more we can learn about these bugs, their language, their culture, and their tech, the better off we'll be... The sooner we can not only talk to them, but know what they're saying to each-other, the better. I must be going, OOC Latin homework Razz OOC I will join you as soon as I can. Dino Out." The PCG logo replaces Dino's face on the main view-screen

Re: Cor Redor Chapter 1: Deep Space 57

The rescue group of light ships dodges and weaves their way into the Redor forces, taking and giving fire but moving as quickly and nimbly as possible, not staying to exchange blows, but cutting a path as best they can. The move towards the surrounded friendly ships.

The Nautilus class and her protectors grew ever closer to the Argo as the Iron Fleet detachment hammered away at the Redor forces with merciless barrages of phaser fire and relentless volleys of torpedoes.

Meanwhile, drawing ever closer in his new command ship, Dino tinkered with various methods for dealing with the Predator missiles. News of the dread weapons had already spread faster than the speed of transwarp, and was already somewhat exaggerated, though in truth exaggeration was hardly necessary as the real weapons were quite lethal enough to give chills to the most seasoned of officers. Once he had gotten his ideas to where he wanted them, he ordered production to begin on prototypes of his new technologies to begin at once.

To All:
My apologies to everyone for the delays. Though I had hoped to make a GM post atleast once a day, work has been too busy for me to do so. Infact, I have not had time to make an GM posts, and probably won't for a while longer. I should get back into the swing of things in July. Never fear, I'll fire this back up eventually. But unfortunately I cannot continue it at the moment.

Re: Cor Redor Chapter 1: Deep Space 57

on Tue Jul 02, 2013 4:23 pm
GM POST

OOC: Seeing as how Gandalf is not here to control Avatar fleet, I'm going to assume they are now floating just outside the battle on the edge, having magically appeared there. I'm requesting that Gandalf's good friend Dino assume control over it for the remainder of this battle.

Iron Fleet executed it's manuvers as ordered by Officer Longfield, now on the left side (the Cor Redor's right) of the battle. The Cor Redor commander, being assaulted from multiple sides (and with his ships still progressing backwards) ordered a change in fleet formation. Now instead of a sphere-like formation, the ships furthest away from battle moved downwards, forming a thick, elongated formation (long from top to bottom), allowing more ships open lines of fire, while reducing the chances of enemy fire that missed hitting another ship. The disadvantage to this manuever was a thinner line which would be easier to break through, but as thick as it still was, that was highly unlikely.

What the Cor Redor commander regretted most was allowing the last few enemy ships caught in the middle his fleet to escape as his ships repositioned. Every single one of the Defiant and Rhode Island class ships from the Texas rangers had been destroyed, some with gaping holes right through their hulls that showed the power of the Glinglay cannons. In addition, two Texas class ships had been destroyed as well. The Texas, it's two Octegerian escorts, and the remaining three Texas class escorts flew out to safety, heavily damaged. Several Frigates broke out from the Cor Redor group to pursue, but they were met by a determined rescue force from Iron fleet, and quick blows sent the Frigates racing back to the fleet.

Meanwhile, the crew of the Argo scrabled to defend the ship from the invading insects. Her captain broke yelling orders to his crew to answer his commander's question. "We've been hit with several of those blasted missiles, we're not sure how many yet, but it's too many. Our casualties are mounting quickly, and our first line of defense has formed, but it's not strong yet. I'm requesting to retreat to the nearest military starbase for additional Marines to clear out these bugs, we will be disabled until then anyways. If you do beam over some Marines in the mean time, beam them to the forward lounge on deck 15, that's our staging area, as our hangers and most of our other large areas have been crippled. Take care of our fighters." The captain left communications to Johnnyred open but turned from the conversation to continue yelling to his crew. "Do we have acess to any riot shields? Or are all the armories compromised as well?"

Anyone mind if I join this roleplay? If I can...

As the battle rages, three ships--identified as a Courage-class Heavy Cruiser and two Centurion-class Cruisers, all registered as Imperial Navy ships, emerge from hyperspace a good distance from the battle, out of range of weapons but within communications range. One of the Cor Redor battleships receives the following pre-recorded voice-only transmission:

"Greetings. This is Lord General Maximilian Stonerise of the Grand Navy of the Minotaur Space Imperium. I am prepared to offer you a deal pertaining to the exchange of political, economic, and military logistics between the Cor Redor and the Dorucha, a fief within the MSI of which I am ruler. Please pass this message on to your commander and inform us of whether or not a potential deal of this nature is of interest to you. Thank you for your time."

After this message is transmitted, the three ships stay put, shields charged and weapons ready, but still out of range.

OOC YAY! it continues at last! Very Happy End OOC

The unnamed NPC captain of the Nautilus class vessel again tries contacting both the Argo and Councilmen Johnnyred.
"Sir, Chief Petty Officer Longfield has a plan to deal with a large number of the insects on the Argo, but it will require a 200 meter radius cleared around the hangers and adjacent compromised areas. The plan will not be effective if the Redor roaches spread across the ship."

OOC I assume that the new Redor formation is rather like a doubledecker bus? Long from front to back, very narrow from left to right, tall from top to bottom? My strategy depends on my understanding the formation. End OOC

Meanwhile, Avatar fleet, having suffered severe injury to their commanding officer, moved to join Iron Fleet's assault. The additional ships allowed the attackers to spread out somewhat more, thus increasing the amount of firepower they could concentrate on a few ships at a time without putting the lighter ships at too much risk.

Despite my best efforts, I have been unable to keep this RPG going. I ahve not even been able to keep up with my lurking. However, I still plan on re-activating it when I can.....but that's the only problem. I am, of course, very busy with work, family, etcetera, and this RPG is harder than most in some ways to GM. Between trying to make it fun but advance my overall story line, and trying to write the smaller individual parts into and inbetween the actions of the other characters, not to mention the sheer numbers of ships involved, it becomes rather cumbersome and difficult. But I do still have plans.

@talmid: Yes, the more the merrier, but please keep in mine that this is story first and RPG second (so you may have to just roll with some losses and even retreat every now and then instead of always trying to win everything if you know what I mean), but I do still hope to make it a fun "interactive" story in an RPG type way, sort of as Star-Hunter did for Operation Omega.
