Imperial Marines- Standard Uniform
Sun May 26, 2013 2:41 pm
The Imperial Marines are the guardians of the MSI Grand Navy. Their primary functions are to protect friendly starships, starbases, and other spaceborne installations from attack and to launch their own boarding operations into enemy starships and bases. Though they are often equipped with various types of armor and equipment, their standard uniform is a suit of CierTech Excel-02 Combat Armor.
This armor is made up of several layers. The outer plates are made of a combination of plastoid and Durasteel, which are very effective against all manner of blasts, shrapnel, and slugs. Under these are lightweight ceramic plates, which are able to reduce the effect of blasters and some other kinds of energy weapons. All the plates are attached to an airtight duraweave body glove, which is able to seal out the vacuum of space, a very useful function for space marines.
The helmet is perhaps the most important part of an Imperial Marine's armor. The helmet itself is made up of heavy Durasteel and plastoid, which can keep many weapons from ever achieving a headshot. The inside of the helmet is padded with shock-absorbent foam to protect the head from impacts. The helmet is equipped with a blast shield for the eyes, which contains an advanced HUD, ensuring easy communication and usage of GPS and other such functions. To augment this, there is a built-in short-distance communications system built into the back of the helmet, the range of which can be extended with more powerful comms systems. Finally, a full-face blast shield can slide down from the helmet's top, making the suit airtight and allowing for brief extra-atmospheric exposure using the built-in oxygen supply.
Enjoy!

I thought I commented....
Well, I am now
Nice armor tech! That suit sounds pretty cool! What type of weapon is he armed with? It looks it looks REALLY intriguing!

Oh..so basically the stuff from the LUCL. Okay, time to shred some stuff, and make it ah, a bit more practical. In all honesty, I'm likely to make it highly similar to the Kyr'galaar Ori'ramikade beskar'gam. Just all the stuff that doesn't involve extreme physical alterations.

Kyr'galaar? Sorry, my Mando'a dictionary isn't turning anything up. Translation, please?
On a side note, keep in mind that the Imperial Marines' primary task is to perform operations in space. Seizing enemy starships, protecting ours, assaulting starbases and asteroids, securing landing zones for planetary invasions, things like that. My idea is that they don't do many groundside operations--the Grand Army does that. This allows for greater specialization in both gear and training, as well as keeps things more organized.

Kyr'galaar... Is that Death Watch, perchance?

First off: kyr'galaar means DEATH HAWK! No way in haran would I make anything like the Kyr'tsad's gear! (Kyr'tsad: Death Watch).
Secondly...aw...I was lookin' forward to smashin' enemy tanks and mechs...I don't suppose I could convince you to make the Marines like those of the British variety? Commandos specializing in all elements of combat? I just really wanna smash as much as possible.

ARC: Ah, I see. Hmm... That sounds enticing. The only thing is cost. Remember, these aren't supercommandos--they are very skilled and elite by some standards, we have lots of them, and outfitting everyone in DH armor could become very cost-prohibitive.
You can still build tanks and mechs and means by which to decapacitate said tanks and mechs for the Army. Smaller mechs can be used by the Marines, even. And there will still be chances to smash enemy tanks and mechs when you perform "amphibious" assaults. And if all else fails, you can temporarily join the Grand Army.
Now, as to commandos specialized in everything, there is the Commando Corps. which is a part of the Imperial Marines. That mostly includes the Doom Troopers and Commandos from the LUCL. I've made some alterations to their armor suits, but you can make weapons, alternate suits, improved suits, vehicles, and whatever else you want for them as well.

I said like DH armor. Full-coverage, airtight seal, able to take a hit without too much kinetic transfer (meaning the grunt doesn't fly back in Null-G combat environments), stuff like that.
YEEHAAAA!!! Smashy smashy SMASHYYY!!! Buildy tanks an' mechs an' smash other tanks an' mechs in amphibious assaults! Quite frankly, give me a unit that isn't made of soldiers (something like Delta Force, Rangers, etc.) and I can reside rather happily in the MSIGA. Quite frankly, if the Marines are the guys to clear LZs and take beachheads (y'know, like IRL), then I'll still be able to see groundside combat. Not to mention I got to storm enemy ships, and fight in Null-gravity. I think I'll make a unit that specializes in hijacking enemy fighters...while the fighters are in flight.
Oh, DTs? Fun! Oh, this is going to be something I greatly enjoy.

You know, not that I'm in the MSI to be able to give official advice, but since you want to do varied combat.... why not join the Commando Corps WITHIN the MSIMC, and lead a Platoon of all-purpose, elite, do everything troops, as well as still working with Imperial Marines? Then you can do even more smashing Wait.... you're my enemy... I don't want you to smash us

Well, I was planning on pulling a Wayson Harris (great series by Steven L. Kent. Seems a bit bleh at first but then it gets interesting. It's at least PG-13-ish, if you're sensitive to a lot of swearing and innuendo-mostly swearing.) And by the Lord Commandant that personally leads the more riskier missions. Mucho smashy!

Then smash away, just smash the Cor Redor and not the PCG!

I smash who I wanna smash. I design things to smash other things. I'm currently working on a mech the size of a building (and not some one-story flat, either), and a tank to beat that. Well, I'd like to be. I have no idea how to actually make a good mech.
Wait, would it be against the rules to bring in designs that're in the LMBs' RPs?

Here's my completely unofficial way of looking at it.
If you designed it, it's all yours.
If you co-built it, then use it with credit to the other builder(s)
If a friend built it and gave you permission to use it, do so with credit.
If it's your faction's, by all means use it, with credit.
If it's somebody else's design that you have nothing to do with, you can be INSPIRED by the building techniques and build one SIMILAR to it, and give credit to the designer.
If the builder asked that it not be used without permission (and you don't have permission) then you can build one LOOSELY inspired by the DESIGN, but not the tech, and you have to give credit for it.
If the designer finds that you used it and requests that you do not use it in future, don' use it.
Or to put it more simply, if it's yours there, it's yours here, if it's not yours there, it's not yours here but you can take IDEAS of how to build your own here.
(waits for an Admin to come along and say that I got it entirely wrong )

Let me try that again...
If it's yours, of course use it, if it's not yours, take ideas from it and give credit.

Okay, and if I've got permission from the other person, I can use it?
