Narkova Battle Industries - Magma MK I Hardsuit
Thu Nov 26, 2015 5:06 pm
So this thing doesn't really have any kind of backstory, but the LEGO gallery is being finicky and uncooperative, so I figured I'd post it here.
This is one of the few of my non-LDD builds that have actually turned out okay. It's the second IRL hardsuit that I've built, but the first one was nothing to speak of, and I had to disassemble it to produce this guy.
The leg structure and shoulder hinges are adapted from another hardsuit I found a while back on the LEGO gallery. I augmented the design with beefier feet/ankles and arms that were better suited to handheld weapons.
There are a number of different interchangeable weapons and things that can attach to the shoulders in all sorts of combinations. Attachments include a standard assault rifle with built-in blade, a long-range sniper rifle/multi-tool, a sidearm, a greatsword, and a battle-axe/hammer. And forearms with hands, of course.
There are also two interchangeable backpacks. One is a jetpack that allows sustained flight, and the other is a detachable automated attack drone.
I also built a pilot and his helper bot.
Just for fun, I built a second Magma hardsuit and it's pilot with colors and weapons inspired by the Maelstrom from LEGO Universe.
So, not super-relevant to Narkova or the PCG-verse, but a fun build anyway.

Intriguing. Gives a very good impression of being well-armoured. I really like the colour scheme on both, and the attachments look quite nice. Very well done.

SH: Yeah, I'm really no good at hardsuits, so I figured I better stay small and simple. Danke!

First you put me in awe of your excellent hardsuit design, then you made my head spin with awesome attachments, then you made me go "awww, how adorable!" about your little helper bot, and then you just about made me cry from bringing up LU memories... Best MMO I've ever played... and I've played a few. And by a few, I mean a few. Like... 4 that I actually played for more than two days
... I'm driving things off topic, aren't I? Yeah... thought so.... But my point is, you took me on a roller-coaster of emotion with one "simple" creation. Well done. I love the design. Having tried (key-word "tried" ) making a few hardsuits, I know how tricky they are to do well. And this one is done WELL. Simple, sure, but simple can be good when it's done right. And this is done right.
No I am not more easily made emotional from being tired, scratch that, exhausted and needing to go to bed; what ever gave you that idea?
And Agreed S-H... seeing pics of physical Lego on this site just feels weird now.

Dino: Haha, thanks! Yeah, I usually can't make a hardsuit worth bantha dung. But this one actually worked, so I'm glad about that.
It is odd to see IRL bricks here, isn't it?
