JACKSON CLASS FRIGATE

on Tue Oct 20, 2015 7:14 pm
Spoiler:

Yeah, yeah, I know, this isn't great. It's really not very worthy of the name "Jackson" (named after Christian Confederate general Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson). It should really be named the "Davis" class frigate (as much as I like the South, I don't much care for Jefferson Davis's legacy). But here it is.

The Jackson was designed by Captain Scarecrow after a long leave of absence in the Southern United States. The Captain had grown quite patriotic toward the South during his long leave, and desired to express his sentiments in his next ship; but despite his admirable patriotism, it was quite obvious his designing juices had dried up a bit through non-use.

However, the Jackson is still a utilitarian vessel. Armed with the typical weaponry, shielding, and armor of most PCG frigates, it can prove a useful ally in any space skirmish.

The tell-tale sign of a Jackson-class frigate is the large, square, Confederate Battle Flag engraved on the floor of the bridge. It covers 3/4 of the floor area and is outlined in brass.

No specs, gentlemen. I'm too lazy and rushed. Razz

If, by any chance, this ship has anything good in it, it is obviously to the credit of Jesus Christ; because this is one of my more rotten ships. Razz

I'm sorry, Stonewall...I haven't represented you very well. Razz

I actually kinda like it; has a nice, aggressive naval-ship-esque feel to it, which is nice. there's some nice detailing there, especially on the engines. Razz

For some reason, I really want to make this ship's big brother; dunno why. Might do that at some point... as if i don't already have enough things. Razz

Not bad, not bad at all.

Glad you chaps like the naval appearance: it was quite intentional on my part. Wink I was inspired by some of J-red's Space Battleship Yamato-styled vessels; and I'm pretty sure some of MM's works played a part in the inspiration, too. Wink

MM, you could make the "Lee Class" destroyer or something like that: that would be an appropriate name for this class's big brother. Smile But you name it whatever you want, and I'll sit by and enjoy the eye candy. Very Happy

SH, is it physically possible for a space ship to also serve sea-duty? If so, I could definitely agree that the Jackson class would fit the part. Wink

Ironically, I already have a Stonewall class... might also be a frigate... so old... so very old.
Although honestly, I think this looks much more like a stone wall. Razz
It's not Trek, it's not one of your usual ultra-graceful winged designs, but it looks like a tough little bucket, and one that belongs in the sea as well as in space. I mean, if these ships  can survive in the radiation filled vacuum of space, then the ocean should be a piece of -error[objectisa{lie}]-to them, they'd just need to be made to float... wait... we have generators that alter the gravity in our ship's interiors... not a problem... at all.

Anyways, while it is very different from your usual, I think it's still a good (but not great) design. Don't be so hard on yourself, man. Smile

@Dino:

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I remembered just as I was uploading this that you once had a Stonewall Class vessel. Apparently, you and I think along the same lines when it comes to naming ships. Razz

Well, so long as it's good, I'm content: great ships don't come often, but good ships should be regular. Wink LOL.
