IFS Varda-class Corvette
Mon May 20, 2013 6:40 pm
The Varda-class corvette was named for the first of its kind, the IFS Varda (meaning Lady of the Stars). At 500 meters, it is technically classified as a frigate, but its slim profile, minimal weaponry, high speeds, and role as a scout resulted in an official classification as a corvette. Originally designed for military use, the Varda class was also revamped and sold as a civilian luxury craft.

Great to see you posting your ships here, Supe! I love the detail format you put in the text. I wish I could be so precise!
BTW, how does one put a spoiler into a post? I need to learn how because all my posts with pictures don't have spoilers.

Nice, I liike the sleek center copared to the still studded rest of it, very nice contrast! It seems a little simple though...

Commander Ant:
Thank you. We at Daragon Inc. do strive for a combination of simplicity and elegance in our designs, though a perhaps less-than-detailed design in this case was most likely the result of our engineers being nearly two years out of practice in starship design. We expect our products to improve as time progresses.

Ack! I just realized that the only comment I had here was in response to Scare! I thought I left my thoughts on the ship! Well I shall rectify that now!
Okay, I love this ship. The overall design is interesting in a good way; the slight curve before spreading out into the two wings on the sides gives it a very graceful feel. Statistics are extensive, though I questions some. A ship 1/4 the size in the Yaka Empire would be able to hold 150 people, so this seems a bit understaffed (although I can see that being a luxury craft).
Overall, this is a solid example of a well-rounded starship!

Kojan- I don't know why I never noticed your post here.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
The stats, especially hard-to-judge interior specifics like the crew, are based off of comparable Star Wars ships, as my technology often closely follows that of the Star Wars universe. Though I will eventually begin developing my style to have more thought-out minor specs like that, at the moment I'm focusing on getting back into building starships at ALL.
The ship I used for comparison was the EF76 Nebulon-B, and--
EDIT: I read the stats of the Nebulon B. I don't know WHY I decided to cuz the ship of basically the same length by like 80%, but...
Stats have been changed. The IFS Varda now holds an ideal crew of 750, with 80 gunners, and a maximum passenger capacity of 200 soldiers. The minimum crew remains the same, though all weapons must be automated, with only one crew member to designate targets from the bridge.

I'm...um...not entirely sure how to respond to that. So... SURE YOU ARE, KOJAN. *pats head*
