Grelfucan Lanferatino-class station. Empty Grelfucan Lanferatino-class station.

Sat Dec 21, 2013 8:48 pm
The Grelfucan Lanferatino-class station (A mash-up of the Italian words "Lavori in ferro"-"ironworks" and "combattimento"-"combat) is an 8.8 kilometer-long structure designed to act as a mobile military compound, both in production and combat capabilities. Usually they're used as such, sent into territories where resupply from Grelfucan or the MSI in general isn't a guarentee, the Lanfertino-class performs much the same roles that a friendly planet would: a place to rest, large-scale defense, repairs to vehicles and ships, new productions for specific purposes of the battles being fought in the occupied territory, and massive communications centers. Should an enemy of the MSI come across one of these, they had better hope they can run fast enough to let their highest command know-because the Grelfucans have arrived in force.

Length: 8,800 meters

Shielding: 12,000 SBD

Armor: 7,000 RU (for the weapon platforms and central facilities-construction/repair scaffolds are much weaker)

Armament:

  • Eight Super-MAC's capable of impaling even kilometer-long capital ships
  • 16 turreted capital ship-grade MAC's
  • 160 dual turbolaser cannons
  • 320 laser cannons
  • 320 point-defense laser cannons on the weapons platforms
  • 880 point-defense laser cannons along the tops of the DD-scaffolds
  • 384 MDM pods (each with five salvos of four Shipkiller MDM's, two Insanity MDM's, two Blinder MDM's, and one Guide MDM)

The MDM, or Multi-Drive Missile, is part of the Shadow Creeper Project's weapons development division. The class of missiles are as follows:

  • Shipkiller: The standard and most common MDM is armed with a nuclear warhead and a cluster of "lasing rods" which capture the various EM radiations emitted by the nuclear explosion and direct them as powerful lasers, grasers, etc. into the target ship, the combination of nuclear blast and powerful EM beams draining the shields and tearing into the armor of the targeted ship. Also equipped with multiple thrust drives and advanced EW/ECM (Electronic Warfare/Electronic CounterMeasures), the MDM has exponentially increased ranges, even farther extended by "coasting" between the activation of the trio of drives.
  • Insanity:This MDM replaces the nuclear warhead and lasing rods of the Shipkiller with flares and chaff that give off the same emissions and sensor image as Shipkiller MDM's, making the task of defending the target ship even more difficult as targeting computers will suddenly see scores of new targets right upon the final approach of the MDM's. Often used in conjunction with Blinder MDM's these are extremely effective at ensuring the delivery of the Shipkillers' destructive force.
  • Blinder: This MDM occupies it warhead cavity with a powerful burst-transmission jammer, long enough to cover the final approach of the MDM cluster, making most sensors, targeting computers and even in some cases communications nothing more than useless electronics. Systems that can see past the Blinder MDM's' jamming will see not only the original count of incoming targets, but the additional scores upon scores of targets arriving, essentially eliminating the defender's capability to do anything.
  • Guide: The largest of the MDM series, the Guide missile is equipped with a set of real-time communications gear, allowing fire-control computers to relay updated targeting data to the MDM's in-flight, making course adjustments, initiating EW/ECM procedures, etc. Should the Guide MDM of the nine-MDM cluster be destroyed, the other MDM's of its cluster will continue on the last course provided.

Production Capabilities:

  • 8 Heavy Cruisers/4 Destroyers (HC's, 600-1,000 meters/DD's, 1,000-2,200 meters)
  • 8 Cruisers (CA's, 300-600 meters)
  • 32 Corvettes/16 Frigates (CC's, 60-150 meters/FG's, 150-300 meters)

NOTE: Larger construction scaffolds can be used to produce multiple ships of lower scales. Meaning a CA-scaffold could produce two FG's, a HC/DD-scaffold 3-5 CA's, etc.

  • 768 fighters/192 gunships/48 transports (fighters under 15 meters, gunships under 30 meters, transports under 60 meters)
  • 15,000 personal weapons (including explosives, mortars, launcher systems, medium/heavy repeaters, etc.)
  • 5,000 sets of combat armor
  • 1,000 combat vehicles (tanks, Mechs, artillery cannons, etc.)
  • 1,000 transport vehicles (utility vehicles, APC's, single-person vehicles, RDC's, etc.)

NOTE: Ground forces production capabilities are rounded numbers. There is sufficient production for a full Infantry Division (including Weapons units), a full Armor Regiment, and a full Artillery Regiment. All aerial vehicles (fighters, gunships, dropships, transports, etc. excluding Rapid Deployment Vehicles) are produced in the shipyards.

Spoiler:
Scale is 1 stud=100 meters. 1 visible energy weapon=10-20 actual weapons. 1 black stud=4 MDM pods. MAC's do not follow any scale/representation, 1 MAC=1 MAC.

The center spire has multiple smaller hangars for fighters, shuttles, etc. The four visible hangars at the bottom are for large-quantity cargo transfers, usually raw materials for production and consumables for the troops and crew on the station. Observation galleries are on the upper levels, with communications centers on the very top and bottom levels of the station (the 2x2 round bricks). Barracks are in the upper levels of the large central part of the spire, the lower levels for production of Marine logistics.

If there's any information that I haven't provided that you would like to know, feel free to request it!

Very nice! Very Happy

I thought nuclear weaponry was rather, eh, useless, by the standards of far-future Star Trek though, but because they were so simple, they could easily bypass the shielding of Romulan vessels and disable them. I know Daedalus Class starships used nuclear weapons against the Romulans during the war between Earth and the Romulans in the Enterprise Era, and the game Star Trek Legacy shows the Romulan's as being vulnerable to nuclear blasts, at least, until they learned what a nuclear blast was and how to block it.

Do note that it isn't just a nuclear warhead, but it also has high-power energy blasts firing into the ship at the same time. So even if you "block" the nuke it'll inevitably damage the shields, and the blasts will do so as well, maybe even hitting the ship's armor. Factoring in that you're never likely to see just a few MDM clusters in a salvo (more like scores or hundreds or even thousands in a very-well-defended system) any ship hit by these is, well, toast. And I don't mean the warm, buttery, crispy kind of toast you eat while reading the 'paper.
