GAE-1
PXE Artillery Database Gae-1_10

The GAE-1 is the primary stationary artillery of PXE ground forces. It is versatile and powerful, capable of ripping through enemy armor, mechanized, and infantry alike. It is usually controlled remotely from a firing station inside a fortification rather than in the open, hence the optical sensor. The GAE-1 is heavily armored, though it is usually found in trenches, to reduce its visibility and vulnerability. Like all of the PXE's current artillery, it is immobile, making it useful mostly for defensive purposes only.

GAE-2
PXE Artillery Database Gae-210

The GAE-2 is the PXE's primary surface-to-air/space defense cannon. Equipped with dual missile pods with molecular assemblers and a centrally mounted rapid-firing cannon, it is most useful against fast, nimble targets. Though its primary purpose is to take out enemy fighters and bombers, it can also cause heavy damage to enemy capital ships en masse. In addition, the missile launchers can also be loaded with anti-tank/armor missiles to destroy ground units. The central turret is also useful to quickly cut down infantry forces.

GAE-3
PXE Artillery Database Gae-310

The GAE-3 is the most powerful artillery cannon. However, this comes at the loss of elevation range, significantly reducing its reliability. Nevertheless, it is very useful for taking out extremely large, heavily-armored targets. A single shot can destroy multiple tanks or mechs. It can easily decimate large fortifications or buildings. However, due to its limited elevation, it cannot fire at capital ships, which is probably its greatest shortcoming. Despite this, the GAE-3 is fairly common and definitely a mainstay for PXE ground forces.

ARRRGGGHHHH!! You were doing so well not making everything OP and now you have the GAE-2! You're telling me those tiny little missile pods can take out capital ships in space?!

....my mental breakdown aside, all of these are seriously awesome. I really like how you did the bases; it looks like a real artillery emplacement. Razz

@Mightyman: En masse. As in hundreds of them. Razz Anyway, thanks! And I agree with you about the bases, those are definitely my favorite parts of the turrets.

Little missiles? I'm pretty sure shields can block them. Razz They are definitely a hazard against unshielded targets or fighters with minimal shielding.

I think it should be hundred-eds of thousands of GAE-2s to damage a capital ship, not merely hundreds. Razz It's like using BB guns to take down a tank, quite literally. Razz

@Ant: The missiles could rip right through a Defiant-sized ships very, very quickly. You underestimate the power of missiles. Razz Against unshielded targets at least. Think about it like this: a missile makes a hull breach in a Bismarck sized vessel. The missile detonates in an area containing shells and ammunition. It goes BOOM! What's going to happen next?

Or, a missile rams right through the primary generator of a modern destroyer. It goes BOOM! What happens next? Razz

Btw, I'm speaking in modern terms.

I really like these, and the idea of stationary artillery is certainly something most people don't think about. But I have to admit that the GAE-2's missiles seem a bit overpowered, and trust me when I say I know the power of missiles, but at that size, even in the hundreds, that's not taking down a capital ship in orbit. As for the GAE-3...multiple armored vehicles? In one shot? Ehhhh.
