Perhaps one of the most iconic 'escort' vessels in the whole of Star Fleet, the Defiant was born with the intent of fighting the Borg. Thrashing Borg polygons however wasn't its only career. The Defiant not only became first Federation starship to legally house a cloaking device, but it was also the best well-known starship of the Dominion War.

And now it's successor has arrived.

(Note: Please do not be confuzzled with this and the PCS Vigilant, a Phoenix Command Group starship.)

The Vigilant Class of Escorts has taken to the sky, and is expected to stay there for years to come. In many ways, it's a Defiant. And in many more ways, it's an all new ship.

With a similar shadow to that of the Defiant, yet sporting the colors and design traits of the modern Federation starship, the Vigilant is quite retro. And that's not a bad thing. While Star Fleet is focused on the future, we see no problem in bringing our own historical achievements forwards with us, unlike say, Lamborghini with their Miura Concept. Anyways, that's what the Vigilant is.

In terms of weaponry, it isn't too much different from the original Defiant. It still has those trademark pulsed phaser cannons and quantum torpedo launchers, though this time they're much more powerful. More phaser banks are also all over the ship. It's quite the gun platform.

Warp speeds exceed the norm. Sublight acceleration though is more than enough to toss you to Pluto and back again. But that might be an exaggeration....

So, your thoughts on the Defiant 2?

Woah, very cool! I always love seeing the smaller things you build, because they're always awesome! I love the way you used SNOT on the sides, and the orange looks great! Nice work, talmid!

I thought it looked rather like a Defiant. I was gona comment and say so, and then I would have had a comment and looked like a good little member but I read the description and it said it was supposed to be that way, so you blew my comment. Razz Soooo....I got nothing to say.....

Actually, it looks cool. It seems a little flat from the back view though. I do like the shaping and all, but for some reason it reminds me of a Pelican from Halo.......don't ask why. Razz

And I looked up the Mirura...it looks like some tried to sci-fi-ify an old corvette. Razz

Noice. Cool little warship. My one suggestion is to change the nacelle colors to classic red and blue. Besides that, it's a good ship. I like the bulkier look it has, it looks armored. Smile

But I like pretty colors, especially on a warship. It makes it stand out. Razz

Noted though. Smile I like the traditional colors too.
